Camps & Conference Centers
Summer Camp Programs
ADN recognizes the Anabaptist Camps & Conference Centers in the US and Canada who offer programs for people with disabilities and mental illness. By intentionally seeking to increase physical accessibility, accommodate dietary restrictions, and provide disability-informed trainings to staff, these camps and conference centers contribute to ADN’s mission of nurturing communities of belonging that everybody can access.

Accessible Camps & Conference Centers
Iowa
- Camp Pine Lake: A small camp in Eldora, Iowa, Camp Pine Lake adapts and makes accommodations on a case-by-case basis, including sign language interpreters for Deaf children and one-on-one aides for teens with intellectual disabilities. Physical accessibility has been enhanced with accessible showers and other modifications to facilities.
Maryland
- Shepherd’s Spring: Located in Sharpsburg, Maryland, all facilities meet ADA guidelines. Staff work with guests on a case-by-case basis to shape their stay in a way that meets their specific needs: staying in cabins with ramps or in lodge rooms on the first floor, golf carts for those who cannot access the trails, printing materials in large font, and so forth. The staff also partners with mental health organizations for programming on an as-needed basis.
Michigan
- Amigo Centre: Located in Sturgis, Michigan, Amigo Centre works with children and adults to adapt programs, lodging, and meals to meet specific needs.
They offer one week of day camp for children with autism. Campers with autism are paired with a one-on-one support staff and integrated into the typical day camp experience with their peers.
Amigo also offers Camp KIND, a modified week of camp for children with disabilities, neurodivergence, and chronic illness and their families. Children spend mornings integrating with their peers into the typical day camp program, accompanied by a one-on-one support staff, while caregivers and older siblings connect with each other and find respite. Afternoons and evenings include family activities tailored to the needs of each participant. - Camp Friedenswald: Located in Cassopolis, Michigan, Friedenswald has cabins and lodge rooms that are accessible for people with physical disabilities. They strive to accommodate food allergies and dietary restrictions for all guests and work with parents and campers to accommodate specific needs.
New York
- Camp Deerpark: Located in Westbrookville, New York, Camp Deerpark does not have programming specifically for people with disabilities but makes accommodations to support involvement in programming on a case-by-case basis based on request and staffing resources.
